The Mormon Cryptogram: Volume One is a historical investigation into the origins of Mormonism and the rise of Joseph Smith, tracing the religious, cultural, and social forces that helped shape the movement before the formal organization of the church in 1830.

Beginning with the religious upheaval of the Great Awakenings in early America, the book explores the intense revival culture, folk magic, treasure seeking, frontier mysticism, and competing religious ideas that surrounded the Smith family in upstate New York during the early nineteenth century. It examines the Smith family’s reputation, economic struggles, involvement in folk practices, and the environment that influenced Joseph Smith’s early worldview.

The book follows the development of Smith’s claims—from early treasure digging and seer stone practices to the emergence of the golden plates narrative and the production of the Book of Mormon. It also investigates the individuals connected to the movement, including family members, early followers, financial backers, and critics, while exploring controversial questions surrounding authorship, influence, and the construction of Mormon theology.

Covering the years leading up to 1830, The Mormon Cryptogram: Volume One combines historical analysis, documentary-style research, and critical commentary to examine how a new religious movement emerged from the turbulent spiritual landscape of early America.

Coming Fall 2026!

A Layman’s Tale is a forensic audit of Christian origins, tracing the historical development of Jesus from 1st-century artifact to the "Theological Temple" of modern faith. This work moves beyond the childhood fascination of biblical archaeology to engage in a rigorous, methodology-first investigation of the historical Jesus, specifically designed to counter the rising claims of Mythicism.

By applying the "Criterion of Embarrassment" and a structured analysis of early textual layers—including the Pauline epistles, the letter of 1 Clement, and external corroboration from Josephus and Tacitus—this volume treats the life of Jesus as a cold-case investigation. Stephen B. Kinsella bridges the gap between Indiana Jones-style discovery and academic historical-critical methodology, dismantling the Christ Myth theory through a meticulous review of primary evidence.

It is a vital resource for those seeking to recover the teacher of Nazareth from beneath centuries of theological construction and "mysticism" claims.
